Email Normalizer

How It Works

Email Normalizer applies provider-specific rules to convert email addresses into their canonical form. For Gmail addresses, it removes all dots from the local part and strips any +tag suffixes, since Gmail treats 'user.name' and 'username' identically. For Outlook and Microsoft accounts, dots are preserved in the local part but tags are removed. Yahoo and FastMail follow their own normalization rules, while generic providers use standard normalization practices.

The normalization process runs entirely on your device (client-side execution), meaning your email data never leaves your browser. Simply paste or enter your email addresses, and the tool instantly displays the normalized versions. This makes it ideal for batch processing and integration into data pipelines where canonical email comparison is critical.

Common Use Cases

  • Data Deduplication: Identify duplicate email accounts when users register with variations like 'john.doe@gmail.com' and 'johndoe@gmail.com' (both normalize to the same address)
  • Email List Cleaning: Standardize email addresses in contact lists and CRM systems to ensure accurate matching and prevent duplicate entries
  • User Registration Systems: Normalize emails during signup to prevent multiple accounts using the same underlying address with different formatting
  • Marketing Campaign Analysis: Compare email lists across campaigns to identify true unique subscribers versus formatting variations
  • Database Reconciliation: Merge and deduplicate customer databases from multiple sources that may have inconsistent email formatting
